Connecting the Dots: How to Discuss Your Child’s Diagnosis
Saturday, April 6, 2013, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
Westlake Porter Public Library, Dover Room
A diagnosis can be a confusing thing for many families. After getting the news, many parents struggle with sharing the results -- when, how, and who should share this information? Also, how do you discuss the diagnosis with the child? Michelle Matzke, Psy.D., and Jennifer Klepner, M.A., of Daily Behavioral Health, will discuss the basic aspects of sharing a diagnosis with family, friends, grandparents, and siblings.
Connecting for Kids and the Westlake Porter Public Library are co-sponsoring this event. Childcare is provided but space is limited. To reserve a spot for your child, visit www.connectingforkids.org or email sarahrintamaki@connectingforkids.org.

“You are being unreasonable!” Have you ever been tempted to just scream that at your toddler or preschooler as they are rolling on the floor having a tantrum? Connecting for Kids
Connecting for Kids is a nonprofit, networking organization that connects parents to resources in the community and supports parents as they help their child grow and develop. Whether a child has a formal diagnosis or if parents are just questioning if their child’s development is typical compared to same-aged peers, the group serves families concerned about physical, emotional, social/language, adaptive or cognitive development.
