Local Girl Raises Money for Komen for the Cure

    Handmade Duct Tape Pencil Case/Purse

    top image

Local nine year old, Gina, is raising money for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for a Cure by selling handmade Duct Tape Pencil Cases/Purses. Gina's father is participating in the walk in support of Gina's grandmother who has Stage 4 Breast Cancer.

The Duct Tape Pencil Cases/Purses are each handmade by Gina. The cases/purses are 8.5" wide and have a velcro closure. You can chose from several different colors and patterns including bright pink, camo, damask and tie dye. The pencil cases are fun for boys and girls. They can also be used as cute clutch purses for girls, teens or adults.

You can purchase one of Gina's creations for $5.00 at http://cgi.ebay.com/120689580826. All proceeds (after ebay and paypal fees) will be donated to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day.

You can learn more about the Susan G. Komen 3-Day by visiting www.the3day.org. Proceeds from the 3-Day for the Cure are invested in Breast Cancer research and community programs.

Want some great food or looking to try a new restaurant? Stop by Mashiso Asian Grille (my husbands new restaurant). It is over by Target and Walmart in North Olmsted. Great food, prices and atmosphere!

I need some names of eye doctors that take children.  Kaylee flunked her vision screening at school & I need to have her evaluated, but I have no idea of where to begin.   Any good ones out there?

I know some of you belong to St Ladislas like I do.  I have spoken to sister about setting up a childrens choir and she would love to if we can get enough interest.  If you think you would be interested please let me know or contact St Lads sister Mary Joan.

This group is hosting a lego camp in Westlake this summer but your child has to be at least 7.  They are offering $50 discount if you register before the end of February.

The trainer that helped us get a service dog for our son is now starting up a service to match dogs with local vets suffering from PTSD.  Here is the info if you would like to help...

    Veteran’s Best Friend

Helping those that give us freedom, regain their freedom!

Veteran’s Best Friend seeks support for the Veteran men and women who suffer with some form of psychological condition and finding homes for shelter & homeless animals so that both may live in dignity as they embark on their journey together. Veteran’s Best Friend will provide our nation’s heroes with accessible, cost-effective animal companionship and [service dog] training.

The goal of Veteran’s Best Friend is to place appropriate dogs and provide the necessary training so that the dog can be the Veterans’ service dog. We view this goal as a win-win for both the dog and Veteran involved. Not only does such a union benefit the dog and Veteran, but it also benefits the community by helping the Veteran. Many Veterans that suffer from psychological conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder find daily activities very challenging, tasks like going to the store or even work can disable them.

For a long time the answer has been medications, but such treatments can be further limiting, have undesired side-effects and long-term use can cause health issues for the Veteran. The use and support of a Service Dog is as natural as it can get, with the hopes of reducing the medications used and helping the Veteran regain their freedom…by having the confidence to go out in public settings with their canine companion.

Veteran’s Best Friend is seeking funds for the acquiring of appropriate dogs, the training needed to make them Service Dogs and Vest attire for the dogs. Veteran’s Best Friend is for the Veteran to do the training themselves with the help of a Trainer.

ALL DONATIONS to this fund will provide the necessary training for the animals of Veteran’s Best Friend

Make checks payable & mail to:

    MHAF – Veteran’s Best Friend

Since Kiddie Kloset is around the corner, I thought I'd see if anyone has a small, toddler sized tricycle they are looking to sell. My youngest keeps trying to ride his big brother's bike, but it's waaaay too big for him.

Email me at nektar.girl@gmail.com if you want to unload your used bike! -Jen Grimes
