Did you think PTAs were only for elementary aged children and up?
The Westlake Early Childhood PTA is a part of the National Parent Teacher Association. We have children in the 0-6 age range and are not associated with just one school in the greater Westlake community. We are unique in that we have members that live in and around Westlake with children who attend the public schools and various private schools in the area.
The Westlake Early Childhood PTA has LOTS of activities for BOTH the preschooler as well as the ENTIRE family. We are dedicated to providing activities and events to enrich the lives of our members. Please take time to review each section of this website to see if anything interests you. Below highlights some of our favorite benefits. We would LOVE to have you join us. Here are some of the amazing benefits we offer:
CHILDREN’S PARTIES
We have THREE great parties: Halloween, Valentine and Spring Carnival. The kids and parents alike have a blast at these functions while creating a holiday craft, eating dinner, and enjoying the various entertainment. The chidren’s party section will list the dates and times and details of the parties.
FIELD TRIPS
We organize events to expose our children to a wide array of cultural and learning activities. Our field trips are educational and entertaining fun for the entire family. Some of our favorite places to go are: Apple and Pumpkin Picking, the Zoo, Santa’s Workshop, Artist for a Day, Memphis Kiddie Park, The Polar Express, Coldstone Creamery, Petland, The Little Gym and Pump It Up. The fieldtrips are scheduled throughout the year on different days and times to try to accommodate everyone’s schedules. We receive group rate discounts as well as often subsidize the cost of the trips for our members.
PLAYGROUPS
Playgroups are a great way for your children to meet new friends their age as well as for you to meet parents of children your children’s age experiencing the same trials and tribulations of parenthood. We also hold MILK (mothers, infants and little kids) groups which are open to all members and are held each month at member homes.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
We are dedicated to helping our community and have several community service projects including vision screening for preschool children for early detection of vision impairment, visiting the elderly, and collecting food for the May Dugan Cereal Drive.
FUNDRAISING
WECPTA’s fall fundraiser is a fun-filled night event often including dinner and auction items donated from the businesses in and around Westlake where us BIG PEOPLE can enjoy a great night out with friends.
This year we are having a Night At the Races on Friday, December 11th, 2009. It should be a blast.
BABYSITTING COOP
This Co-op was designed to provide the members guilt-free and cost-free childcare for their children by other members on a reciprocating basis through the exchange of time.
RESALE EVENTS
Kids grow so fast. Save some money by attending our spring and fall resale events (Kiddie Klosets). Or make some money by selling your child’s outgrown clothes and toys by purchasing a table to sell your goods. Members are given priority for table purchases and a discounted rate.
SUNSHINE
Members that experience a change in their family through a new birth, an illness, injury or loss are provided with support from the WECPTA with a meal.
